In the pre-historic periods when the concept of one God did not exist, people had to need to believe in and   feel sheltered by the existence of a higher power which would protect them. People considered thunder, lightning, storms, the sub etc more powerful than themselves - and therefore Gods. They also did not forget to have  Goddesses. For example, Zeus considered chief among gods, but Aphrodite was the divine projection of mortal beauty.

Aphrodite arose from the spume on the shores Cyprus, a pearl in a beautiful oyster shell in the deep turquoise of the Mediterranean. Aprodite, daughter of Zeus and Dione and mother of Eros, is the deity of Cyprus. She, along with other gods and goddesses, is a lasting legend.

It is undoubtedly not a coincidence that the Goddess of beauty was born on shores Cyprus, as the rich beauty of   Cyprus is personified Aphrodite. Cyprus is heaven on earth. An island of legends, Cyprus with its magnificent blue sky where the sun shines on nearly every day of the year, with its clear clean sea, is an island that must be visited. The historical richness and the natural environment, sandy shores and friendly people who smile visitors  spite of all their  problems these things captivate the traveller.

As all the explorers and nature lovers I know have said, though it is small on the map, Cyprus is actually so big that you can never say you have explored it all. After coming across one place of outstanding natural beauty you can be sure you will fall upon another and another.

Living Cyprus and living in Cyprus is a symphony and is an endless date. That’s why with these emotions and views in mind I, as a photographer, called my book “North Cyprus Castles”. This book which contains the photos which I chose with such care amongst nearly 1000 photos is written to  inform people about North Cyprus, and to convert you into a passionate lover of Cyprus.
